Briefly Describing the Encyclopedia of Air Curtains

Aerodynamically designed to prevent the inflow of air is the Berner Air Curtain. The device has strong resistance to air flow and operates through an air outlet that has a low turbulent air stream.

History of Air Curtain:

It is believed that the first Air Curtain was introduced in the year 1904 in North America but the installation was surprisingly made after 12 years. It became popular after 1950s and then in the year 1956, the most advanced technology in air-curtain was introduced by Miniveil. This created a benchmark in the industry and gave birth to a new company after the name of the patent, Miniveil Ltd. The company made a renowned name in the industry and sold its first air curtains in the year 1958 in Canada. After that the trend of using air curtains was adopted in various sectors across many platforms.

Types of Air Curtains:

There are various types of air curtains available today in the market. The most common types are recirculating and non-recirculating. Recirculating Berner Air Curtains operate in a way that there is continuous airflow between the discharge grille at one end and the receiving grille at the other end. The air recirculates and is reused again and again. In this type, air has to be filtered separately and hence the cost of maintenance is quite high.

About Different Types of Cost:

Over that the initial cost of purchase and the operation cost are also high. In non-recirculating Berner Air Curtain, airflow is not continuous rather air pulled into the unit enters the fan housing and is accelerated there. The accelerated air is then evenly distributed through the length of the discharge nozzle. The cost of maintenance is comparatively lower than the recirculating type as the air is not required to be filtered because there is no re-use of air.

Several Benefits Offered:

These benefits mainly include comfort and energy saving. Comfort level is improved by regulating the temperature and creating a comfortable climate for one and all. These curtains installed over open doors promote energy savings and reduce the cost of electricity. These are also used to control insects, climatic conditions, fumes, and humidity. They also successfully recover stratified heat, retain heat in ovens, and control air movements within the building and their popularity is on the go because of its massive advantages.
